Pool opens Memorial Day Weekend!

The Montpelier community pool will open at noon on Saturday, May 25. The hours and rules are published in the May/June newsletter recently delivered and are copied below.

To kick off the season, neighbors are invited to a Memorial Day Potluck at the pool on Monday, May 27 at 5:30. The Community Association is providing hamburgers, hot dogs and invite residents to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share.

Pool Photos 

Individual pictures are required for all pool users 6 and over. These pictures should be similar to a school id photo, driver’s license photo or passport photo. Your name and lot number (or address) should be on the back of the photo. The attendants are instructed to refuse entry to anone who does not have a photo on file.

Only the family members (and paid extended family) listed on your 2013 pool user form will have access to the pool. All information (birthday if under ag2 18, relationship to owner, etc.) is required.

Pool Guests

MCA members who are registered pool users may bring guests to the pool. A guest pass is required for any non-member age 6 and over, and is good for one full day. See the attendant at the pool to purchases guest passes (available in groups of 5 for $25.00 or 25 for $87.50. No cash will be taken; only checks from the MCA member with a valid picture ID (which includes their Montpelier address) will be accepted.

Pool Rules

The pool rules are for the benefit, health and safety of all pool visitors and help provide enjoyable recreation for all members and their guests. Pool Management or the MCA Board of Trustees may institute new regulations at their discretion in the interest of safety. The following are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Please give the lifeguards and pool staff the respect they deserve. They are there for your protection and should never be considered babysitters. Children should not be left at the pool unsupervised.
  • Parents and guardians are responsible for the behavior of their children.  Members are responsible for the behavior of their guests.
  • All children under age 8 must be continually supervised by an adult while at the pool. You must be within arm’s length of children that can not swim at all times. This rule applies to children of any age.
  • A parent or childcare provider must remain with children in the wading pool area at all times.
  • Appropriate swimsuits are required in the pool.  No street shorts or cut-offs are allowed.
  • All swimmers are required to shower before entering the pool.
  • Individuals who appear to present a health hazard (i.e. contagious diseases, infections, open cuts, bandaged wounds) will not be allowed to use the pool.
  • Swim diapers are required for all children not completely toilet trained.
  • No running, pushing, or horseplay in the pool area.
  • Patrons will not use profanity or abusive language in the pool area.
  • Spouting of water by mouth and similar unhygienic actions are not permitted.
  • Swimmers may not sit, stand, hang, or play on pool ropes or lane lines.
  • No glass or breakable containers are permitted in the pool facility.
  • Bicycles must be parked in designated areas.   Use of skateboards, scooters, roller blades and other like articles are prohibited in and around the pool area.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited in the pool area which includes the front gate and Food Pavilion.
  • Food and beverages are allowed in designated areas.  Patrons must deposit all trash in the proper receptacles.
  • No diving into the pool except in the diving well.  No floatation devices of any kind are permitted in the diving well.  Flips off the pool edge are prohibited.
  • Only one person allowed on the diving board at a time. Jump or dive straight out off the end of the diving board, not off the side.
  • Divers must keep both their feet on the pool deck until the previous diver has reached the ladder.  Swim directly to the ladder after going off the board.  Do not swim to the wall.
  • Tipping, rocking or use of pool chairs for other than their intended use is prohibited. Patrons are responsible for any damage they cause by willful misuse of pool property.
  • The MCA and Pool Management are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.  The pool staff will hold “found” articles for two weeks before disposing.
  • The pool will be open for all ages on the hour through 45 minutes past the hour.  The last 15 minutes of each hour will be reserved for “adults only” swimming. Patrons must be at least 16 years old to use the pool dur- ing these periods.
  • Under no circumstances shall a member or guest enter the water without a lifeguard on duty.
  • No unauthorized entry into the gate office, guard room, or pump room is permitted.
  • Patrons must obey all posted rules.
  • The Pool Manager or Assistant Manager may close the pool at any time due to personal discretion, operational difficulties, or inclement weather.
  • Pool Management has the right to discipline anyone that refuses to follow the rules and regulations of the pool facility. They have been given the authority by the MCA Board of Trustees to enforce these rules.
  • No alcohol or drugs are allowed on the premises.  Persons that appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed on the premises.
